Theatre – Extracurricular Activity ASEICA

From primary school to high school, the’ASEICA theatre activity offers a comprehensive artistic program in English. On stage or backstage, students discover the acting, there scenography, there lighting and sound control and the production of shows.
Inspired by Drama Departments Anglo-Saxons, this program reinforces the self-confidence, there creativity and the leadership, in continuity with the French tradition of oral and written communication.

Theatre in primary school – a first immersion in English


In all ASEICA primary school classes, students follow a full semester of theatre, driven by their
English teachers. This work explores:

  • L'’body language and vocal expression ;
  • L'’listen and group play; ;
  • there reading aloud texts in English.

The semester concludes with a performance on the stage of the Cinéma de l'Alma at the CIV, a highlight where each class shares its work in front of the families.

College Theatre Club – a practice space open to all


THE ASEICA College Theatre Club brings together students from the four partner colleges (César, CIV, Éganaude and Niki de Saint Phalle)
each Tuesday after classes at the CIV. Supervised by ASEICA English teachers who are also drama instructors, the middle school students discover:

  • THE acting (improvisation, text work, group dynamics); ;
  • there construction of a scene and an understanding of the artistic issues; ;
  • THE technical aspects of live performance (lighting, sound, scenography); ;
  • the pleasure of create and play together within a real troupe.

At the end of the year, supported by the team Production / Tech Crew, The middle school students present their shows on the stage of the
Alma Cinema at the CIV, in front of their families and friends.

Access : by audition, open to all ASEICA college students.
Schedules : Tuesday 5:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., at the CIV.

Lycée Theatre – a comprehensive and structured artistic commitment


In high school, the ASEICA theatre program opens with a day of hearing End of September (group exercises, improvisations, physical and vocal work). Once the roles are assigned, the students engage in:

  • of the weekly rehearsals Wednesday afternoon; ;
  • one Saturday of work per month to deepen the creative process; ;
  • A four-day creative stay on Île Sainte-Marguerite,
    to form a true artistic ensemble; ;
  • A annual trip to London for Year 11 and Year 12 classes, with intensive workshops and outings to several London theatres.

This rich, educational and demanding journey develops both the theatrical technique, there trust, L'’autonomy and the collective work.

Primary

  • Duration : one semester per class.
  • Management : English teachers ASEICA.
  • Representation: Alma Cinema, CIV.

College

  • Access : by audition, open to all ASEICA college students.
  • Schedules : Tuesday 5:15pm – 6:30pm.
  • Place : CIV – Alma Cinema.

High school

  • Audition: Full day at the end of September.
  • Rehearsals: Wednesday afternoon + one Saturday per month.
  • Highlights: stay on Île Sainte-Marguerite, trip to London,
    end-of-year performances.
